"It was from sunrise to sunset, at that time there were no hours. It was when the sun rose they were already at work and only after it had set did they return. at night and well at night. And they had to shake it at night too. Because that's life." - Joaquina do Forno

Synopsis
Live on What? – Memórias de uma vida de trabalho no Feminino is a collaborative film by Patrícia Leal and Vera Abreu and results from an oral history collection project. Inspired by the book “As Mulheres do Meu País” by Maria Lamas, published between 1948 and 1950, this ethnographic work “of salvation” of the living memories of the aging population of the municipality of Vila do Bispo, also focuses on women. These, despite the image of housewife attached to them, actively participated in the work of the countryside and the sea that distinguish the main economic activities of the municipality. The collection of these stories proves to be of pressing importance insofar as it is about a group that, when disappearing, takes with it a whole collection of memories and intangible heritage that it is important to fix.
